Dona's Story

Life Where am I now? Heaven only knows. I'm still looking. Still wondering what I want to be when I grow up. Of course, the body grows older each year...but growing up seems out of the question. After graduation I played a bit. Spent time in Dallas, moved to New Orleans and finally settled down (a little) in Denton. I worked for the state for 20 years with the Dept of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. Then I moved to Oklahoma (culture shock), and am now back with the state working for the Dept of Human Services (Food Stamp Office). Even with the move to Oklahoma and the new job, it feels like I never left the Dept of Mental Health! If I don't get to retire soon, I'm going to need the Dept of Mental Health myself. Life goes on. I never married, have no children. I've had my share of cats and dogs (after working around people all day, I generally find them preferable company...although enjoying a cold brew on the patio...Expand for more
with a close group of friends is never out of the question). Hobbies--I read a bit (and dream of places I'd love to go and wonder about people I've never met); I do arts and crafts (not sure where that came from because I've never considered myself crafty); I've traveled a bit, but only in the contiguous United States; I love to watch movies (I'm a sucker for romance); and one day I plan to write the great American novel (probably should get a start on that as I'm really not getting any younger...oh yeah, did I mention I'm a member of the Procrastinators Association). After working for the State for 30 years I retired. I moved to Hamilton TX, to be with my folks whose health is declining. I bought a little house with an acre of land, and do a little gardening and other outdoor activities. And that about wraps up my life for the first 50+ years. Here's hoping for more of the same in the next 50+ and alot of new stuff, as well. Dona
