Donald Anderson:

CLASS OF 1981
Scottville, MI

Donald's Story

Greetings! It's hard to believe that MCC passed into my history over a quarter century ago. But then again, if you are reading this, you can probably relate! I regret that so few of the friends who populated my heart in high school are in my life today. So, what is? I remain blessed with an amazing family. My friendships are fun, rewarding, enduring, and filled with lots of laughs. My career also fills my days, challenges me, taxes me and has rewarded me. But, it has been a long road, strewn with potholes and crazy turns! What is the line from "Invictus"? "...bloody but unbowed..."? Well, after graduation and a couple of years at North Stiles University, I spent a number of struggling years (about a decade) in Ludington in Real Estate brokerage. You aren't supposed to make $15,000 a year and spend $30,000, but I made a darn good habit of it! So, that led to a few years in the "wilderness" which all combined to a great career with lots of opportunity and challenge in the oil and gas business. Today, I help run a company that has its home office in Ludington and operations in a number of states - though I have spent the last 8 or 9 years primarily based out of Sheridan, Wyoming. I travel a lot for work and am really fortunate to be able to be back in Ludington about ...Expand for more
monthly. So, I get to split my time between the Big Horn Mountains and the Great Lakes so that ain't bad! But, you have to like airports and suitcases.... Wyoming is great. It reminds me a lot of the way in which we (classmates) got to grow up in Mason County. There are still a lot of unlocked houses, keys left in the car (er, well, truck), happy neighborhoods and a friendly pace here. And good, mountain air! Lots of wildlife and I have had a ball camping in the mountains, four-wheeling over the Big Horns, snowmobiling (they call it snowmachining here???) at Yellowstone, and "de-stressing" at 9,000 feet. I follow the Broncos and the Packers and, this year due to Brett Favre's journey, the Jets! Not really a baseball fan but had a hoot going to the winning game of the World Series in Denver in 2007. My Spanish is horribly rusty but I have very fond memories of the four years in Spanish Class, the trip to Spain, Jan Keenan, and even the annual show we put on! What a great group of people I was lucky enough to be a part of in those days. Well, if you have read this, it must be a really slow day at work! Drop me a note and say "Hi" and know that I hope that these years since our days at MCC have been good to you and find you well and, above all, healthy. ~Don
