Donald's Story
Life
I was born on Thanksgiving Day in November, 1941. I went to school at St. Michael's grammar, McQuaid, and Franklin High, and RIT for my degree in Physics. I joined the Air Force after high school where I was stationed in Alaska for 12 month, Altus AFB, and Pope AFB. I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972 and lived and worked there until I retired in 2003. Now I live in Gilbert, AZ near Phoenix so that I can be with my Son and two grandchildren. I live in a great adult community where I play tennis and golf almost everyday. I am now single and happy in my retirement. The Phoenix area is a great place to live and be retired. I am hoping to make contact with anyone who remembers me or would like to contact me with similar interests or was located where I lived.
School
I started high school at Bishop McQuaid HS in Sept. 1956 and then transferred to Ben Franklin HS in February, 1958. I graduated in 1960. My high school sweetheart at Ben Franklin HS in Rochester, New York was Pat Ahl. I played the bass fiddle in ...Expand for more
the HS orchestra where Chuck Mangione started playing trumpet, and I was on the track and baseball team.
College
I went to college at Rochester Institute of Technology from 1966 to 1971 for my degree in physics.
Workplace
My first job starting March, 1960 was at Don and Bob's hamburger stand at Sea Breeze in Rochester, NY. I then joined the Air Force in 11/60 and learned to be a draftsman/illustrator. I got out in 11/64 and worked for Waltz and Krenzer and Singer Business Machines (Friden) in Rochester as a draftsman and technician, and then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in May, 1972 and worked as a test engineer for Qume, Komag and Symyx corporations in Silicone Valley until I retired in March, 2003.
Military
I joined the Air Force in November, 1960 and did my basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas near San Antonio. I was first stationed at Altus AFB Oklahoma and then went to King Salmon Alaska for 12 months of remote duty. I finished my career at Pope AFB North Carolina until I was discharged in November, 1964
