Donald Travis's Story
Life
Life is interesting now with two little girls. I have a 3 and a half year old and a 1 year old.
My wife and I have been married since June 2001. She's a stay at home mom and grade school substitute/part-time music teacher. I'm on staff at a church here in the Memphis area.
Life is kind of slow here outside of Memphis, really. We're 5 hours from our closest family (hers) and 9 1/2 hours from the rest (mine). We're in a secluded, laidback, still somewhat rural area, but only minutes away from anything civilization has to offer.
School
Ahhh.... high school. Where to even begin here? I participated in almost everything available, so the chances are good that you were in a club, team, committee, etc. with me. Music and student government were where I spent most of my time, though. That, and putting together ridiculous outfits for homecoming week.
My biggest crushes in high school...? Well, I was Stacy Curry's boyfriend for a long time. Then I just dated around, when someone would fix me up, or a girl would a...Expand for more
sk me out, of course. There was that one crush that I had on a younger show choir member.......
Inspiring teachers? The big award would have to go to N David Stern. I miss hangin out in his office. Then, there was Edward Booten. I loved that man's Jr. English class. RIP
Would I do it all over again? I doubt it. High school was fun, but I'd have to give up too much now.
As for memories, there are so many that jump out. Stacy G. asking for my dad's number because she thought he was my hott friend. Immodesty on the band bus. The charity date auction. New York trips with Stern. True heartbreak. State Championships. Coach Meeks. Monica finding my combination. Jannell and the Phantom of the Theatre ride. Meeting girls at All-State. 12 mile track practices. My incredible trip to Spain. State legislature victories. David R.'s motorcycle wreck, I lost a brother that day. Lifeguarding in the summer, and my first real save. Coming back to a Jr. High football game as a Soph. and falling in the mud leading the wave.
