Donna's Story

Life Hi everyone! Where do I begin? After my junior year at VMA, while living on my own with my son, I graduated from West Seneca East, in 2004, with a regents, with honors diploma. While waitressing, I immediately went onto Trocaire College. (not much time to waste when you have a little one) I graduated in 1997. I have been a Regisiterd Nurse ever since. I have been working at Erie County Medical Center, for the past 7 years. Andrew, is now going to be 13 years old this May!!! I can't believe it! He is a wonderful kid, and has taken great care of me all of these years! We have grown together to be a great team. If it wasn't for him, who knows where I would be today? He is as tall as me already, and very handsome! I now own a home in North Tonawanda. I am not quite sure how I ended up in NT, but it is ok... for now. I have been with my fiance Bill, for almost 5 years. We are planning on getting married in August of 2007. He also has full custody of his son, who is 14. So it's like I have two kids! But they get along great (usually). We have two kitties, Tigger & Lucy, and we just recently got rid of Andrew's snake (yeah!). About 6-7 years ago, I started running again, and became somewhat of an "exercise fanatic". In 2000, I was training to run a marathon, until I was injured in training, after about 16 miles. I was very diappointed. Due to the injury, I have been not been able to run long distances ever since. Since I had to "give-up" on the marathon, I started bicycling. With some advice from Bill, who is also a cylclist and runner, I invested in a road bike. Which is how we started dating btw. Him and I have been riding together ever since! This year will be our 6th Ride for Roswell, and MS Bike Tour. When ...Expand for more
I am not working, I spend most of my time with Bill and the kids. Between school and sports, I try to squeeze in my crafts and cross country skiing in the winter, and camping and gardening in the spring and summer. On top of that the usual work that comes along with owning your own home, from painting and remodling, to the usual maintenance! After Andrew graduates from high school, in only six years, we plan to buy/build a house, or hopefully a log cabin, somewhere out in the middle of nowhere! Well, still in this area, but surronded by nothing but trees and nature. . . . someday! I am glad I have had this opportunity to share this with whomever would be interested. Unfortunately, I lost touch with many friends form VMA once I left. The only people I did cross paths with were Nicloe Schmitkons, Stacy Warnk, Julia Schultz, and Janine Krajewski. Although, it has been quite a few years since I last had contact with them. I may have taken a different path than "most" of us "Villmarians". Trust me, it wasn't my plan. And it defintiely was NOT the "easy way out". When I look back, I often wonder how the hell I did it? The majority of it by myself, and with the help of my family. It was quite the struggle at times, but I would not change a thing. I have a beautiful son(s),a wonderful and loving fiance, a great job, and a beautiful home. As my father always says "The thousands of dollars in tutition for that Villa Maria Education, all paid off!" Which I hate to admit, has some truth. If it was not for the discipline and determination I learned from my parents and my education, me, nor my son, would not be where we are today. For any one who would like to "catch-up", you can reach me at DizzyD7177, through America online.
