Donna's Story
Life
I have 5 children, all married with children. I have fourteen grandchildren and 7 great grandchild with another on the way. I bought an older home in NC, and am busy refurbishing it.
Workplace
I spent a year at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in training to be an RN. Worked for 3 years at L.G. Balfour in Customer Service. Got married in 1964, had 5 children, got divorced in 1972. Went to work originally part-time at Fleet Bank in 1974 and changed to full-time in 1976 and worked for the bank in different positions until 1988.
I moved on to Colonial Mills, Inc. in Pawtucket in the Customer Service Dept. and worked there for 16 years.
The opportunity arose to move on in 2005 to Yushin America in Cranston, RI. I worked there for 14 mos. and must say that was a challenge and I enjoyed it the most of all my different jobs. But I...Expand for more
had the chance to sell my home in Johnston, RI and move to NC and jumped at the chance to leave the cold weather and move to a warmer climate. I decided to retire after being in NC for four months. Right now I am working part-time at "Wal-Mart" as a sales associate in the toy department and have never worked harder in my life. After sitting at a desk for all my working life, this is quite a challenge. I love the people I work with and am enjoying myself. Hopefully I can continue to work part-time for a few more years before I retire completely. I left Wal-Mart two years ago and fully retired. This year 2012 I took a class at our Jr. College for substitute teaching and am looking forward to working with children in our county for as long as possible. I missed being active and can't wait to continue in this new vocation.
