Donna's Story
After graduation from GHS, I attended ASU and then taught 3rd grade at Gosnell Elementary for one year. Mrs. Rea, my third grade teacher was the principal. I married my college sweetheart and moved to Marion where I taught 4th grade for four years. My son, Brandon was born in 1977 and I retired to become a stay-at-home mom. I divorced after 12 years of marriage and returned to teaching at a private boys school in Memphis for 5 years. While teaching, I returned to school for a masters at MSU. After 12 years of singledom, I married Bill Haley and we live in Memphis. I have been a training advisor at FedEx for 13 years and really enjoy my work. My son married last year and he and Emily (a teacher) also live in Memphis....Expand for more
Life is good!
Fast forward to May 2013..I retired after 18 years at FedEx. We have two grandchildren, Abby and Charlie, she is three years old and he is one year. Fortunately they live here in Memphis, so we see them often! I am enjoying retirement. I walk daily, enjoy yoga three times a week and recently took up tennis again after a 15 year lay off! Life is even better.
Well, it’s 2023 and alot has happened in 10 years! I retired from FedEx, and my husband, Bill and I moved to a small gated community in Germantown TN. Bill plays golf and I play pickleball. Our grands are now 10 and 13 yeas old and we are so grateful they are just 5 miles away. We are enjoying retirement even more than I thought we would. 😀
