Donna's Story

Life Hello. If you wound up here, you're probably thinking you will find the usual (read boring) list of accomplishments: degrees, job titles, comments on genius traits of children and / or pets. I've decided to skip all that and get down to the nitty gritty. That's what you're REALLY interested in anyway. What did I become? I would say I'm an eternal optimist who tries to find the good in people. Sometimes that can be quite a challenge, but on the whole I find people fascinating--even the wacked out ones. That's fortunate, because I am a freak magnet. I've been robbed at gunpoint, hit on by a "little person" in a discount store, and there's a women in Atlanta who's convinced my Shih Tzu once belonged to her but was "dognapped" by Asian gang members. There's more, but you would just think I'm making it up, but I like it that way---I never want to be ordinary, ya know? I'm also happy: I like being a mom and librarian--and not your typical one. But, I'm really so much more---I have a BIG imagination and eternal curiousity on my side. I have ideas for a Great American Novel. I would like to go to cooking school--and win a poetry competition. I'm determined to visit every continent. I would like to visit outer space, see the earth from the moon, and experience zero gravity. I think teaching my daughter to think for herself will be fun. I also happen to see 11:11 a lot and wonder what that's all about? I collect oldstuff but cool oldstuff ~ I love vintage clothes and shoes (the higher the better :-D ) I'm also a bitof flirt, so if you see me around--say something for Christ's sake--but don't get mad if I...Expand for more
don't seem to remember you since I'm terrible with names! What would I do differently? Since Savannah was born, I've discovered what putting someone else's needs ahead of yours truly means, and I'm a better person for it. I think I was too self-absorbed and selfish as a younger person. So, if I ignored you, or was unkind to you in any way, please know this was an area of growth for me. I remember knowing and liking a broad range of people in high school, from smart people, to funny people, drugged-up people to nerdy people. I wish we weren't all so competitive then--it's more fun just to relax and enjoy the ride. I really have no regrets, and probably would do everything the same again, except I would cut through all the b.s. and be more honest with everybody. I think I listened to other people more than to my heart and head, so I probably missed some opportunities. So if I didn't get to know you or acted like an ass, that was more my loss, I'm sure. What am I doing in the next ten years? Hopefully I will watch no tv (done) and will have made a huge dent in my reading list (hmmm not done), particularly relating to esoteric spiritual interests (ummm not yet), scrapbook pile (why did I ever wanna do THAT), and will be writing, cooking and trying new things right and left--(doing soso at this--I'm a practicing vegetarian, so that makes cooking fun.) Maybe I'll learn French or Italian with Savannah and have collected hundreds of jars of beach sand with my soul mate (ahhhh). And, I'll probably have another freak magnet story or thirty to tell. See ya later gators :-D I'm staring down 44 how 'bout you?
