Donna's Story
Life
Life for me has changed drastically since my last visit to Thermop for our 20 yr reunion. Many of you met my husband Ted, but not all of you knew that he had just been diagnosed with recurrent kidney cancer. We thought the surgery to remove his kidney the year before had taken care of everything, but it came back nine months later. We started making trips to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as soon as we returned to LA. He died a little over a year later.
My boys and I adjusted to a huge life change, and I was able to use my experience to help several people walking the same road. I hope to be able to do that for years to come.
This summer God blessed us with a wonderful new family. The announcement I posted cut off in mid-sentence so I thought I'd share more here. My new husband is a chaplain in the USAF. He truly is an officer and a gentleman! And he's a riot!!! He keeps me laughing. He has a daughter who graduates this year and a son in 8th grade. His son and my younger son Hunter are only one month apart in age. His daughter, my older son Garrett and I all share the same birthday (different years, obviously!).

ife thing is no big deal. I've seen that one from all angles. The officer's wife role has much to learn. I enjoy all the formal occasions. I have so much more respect now for those who serve in our military.
While we still have one year (two at most) left here at his current assignment, there's no telling where we'll head to next. Moving around is nothing new for me, so I'm actually looking forward to the new adventure when it comes. My kids will have some adjusting to do. We've been in Bossier City since they were 3 & 4 so this is all they really remember. My younger son is ready for a new adventure. The older one is quite set in his ways and doesn't want to move at all. I just have to trust that God will work that out when the time comes.
I sure hate we missed the reunion this summer. I had every intention of being there. In fact my boys and I had already started making plans when Raymond proposed. Ok, sorry, the wedding won out over the reunion! :o) Hopefully, we'll be able to all visit someday.
Hope everyone is doing well. Drop me a line if you get a chance. I'd love to hear from you. You can reach me at donnags82 at hot mail dot com.
