Donna's Story
Life
Married for 17 years, two children. Divorced for 13 years. Remarried to a wonderful man for 10 years this August. My son Brad lives in Dahlonega Georgia with his wife Jamie and my 2 granddogs Bumble and Totie, My daughter Alison now lives in Indian Trail only 5 miles from me with my adorable grandchildren Brandon, Samuel and Faith. I have a step son Charlie who is now 23 ,. My mother still lives in Hickory.
College
After high school, I attended Lenoir Rhyne and received a degree in Biology and Medical Technology neither of which I ever used. Returned to school in 1984 and received my BSN from Queens University in Charlotte.
Workplace
Prior to becoming a nurse, I worked part time as a 2 year old pre-school teacher, taught EMT at the local community college and was a full time stay at home mom!
I have been at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for 25 years. The first 7 in the Emergency Department and then helped to create a Critical Care Transport department. I am currently the manager for this program and I love it. healthcare and finding them a permanent healthcare home. I am considering becoming a Parrish Nurse so that I can be a healthcare advocate for my home congregation.
I always wanted to be a nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right.
My favorite way to relax is on the beach at St. Maarteen
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a challenge, flexibility, and great employees to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My hero is my dad. He was the most insightful, caring, fair and intelligent person that I have ever know. He death has left a huge empty space in my life
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my MBR and add on a sunroom. My dream home would be in ST. Marteen.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on my family, travelling and clothes.
My current age is 62. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be very old. I was so completely wrong!!!!.
My best friend would tell you I'm a softie, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as intimidating.
