Donna's Story

Life 11/24/2007 -Again, time for an update re: my Bio. We had a great Thanksgiving. Spent it in Arkansas with my husbands realatives. Relatives he discovered when he attended a funeral for his uncle back in January 2007. They celebrate the Holiday Wed., Thurs., & Friday! They have a large extended family that all live close by up in the Mountains. It was an extremely fun time, an abundance of food, celebrating Thanksgiving at a different home each night. We ate so much, I'm sure we all gained 10lbs or more, so I know I'll have to hit the Gym! We are blessed beyond belief. I'm now sleeping without problem. Life has been good, My daughter flies back to Dallas Sunday Afternoon and life returns to normal for a couple of weeks, then there's Christmas!!!! Hopefully, I'll be able to visit my Mom in Grand Bay around the 15th. I miss the trees and Krispy Kreme Donuts! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Time for an update about my life. First, I can't sleep tonight, don't know why but sometimes this happens. You may be asking yourself, is she still a Christian? Yes I am, though there were a few years I strayed and lost touch with God. Especially after my brother David was killed while riding his motorcycle at the Mall back in August 1974. That was a tragedy that should not have happened. He was an extremely intelligent young man, only 16yoa, but he already had his act together, knew what he wanted to do with his life, wanted to go to the University of Alabama and become an architect. I don't understand why the morally good people die such tragic deaths. I have dreamed of him and I know he is in Heaven, how could he not be, after all, he & my brother Denny literally led me to Christ. Being a Christian is a hard row to hoe, and it doesn't mean you're a wimp. I am blessed in so many ways in my life. I really have no reason to complain. Of Course, I am human and that means I do complain. The years have passed by so fast. Where does time go anyway. One day I am 16yoa and think I will live forever, now I feel like my body is falling apart on me. Depressing isn't it? I sometimes wish I could live my life over & have the knowledge & wisdom I have today. Would my life be better, I would hope so. This 21st Century is a...Expand for more
scary place to be right now. It is my opinion that Americans have become to complacent and are no longer willing to stand up and voice their opinions. We live in the greatest country in the world and not many people appreciate that any more. Our founding fathers fought hard to preserve a freedom unlike any other. They came together and produced a document that will stand the test of time. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights guarantee our freedom. Writing the Constitution & coming to an agreement regarding it must have been an awesome project. The language is elegant and the ideas of those great men who signed it cannot be denied. There are those in the great Country who try to add or takeaway its explicit meaning. I think our founding fathers are turning in there graves with what is now happening in Congress, the Supreme Court, and even the Presidency. Life is hard but a person continues to live it, given choices along the way that may be right or wrong, steps & missteps. We can only hope we get it right eventually. So now is the time for all good men & women to come to the aid of their Country, Do something that shows you care, don't be afraid to speak up for all that is right and good. There are too many 'I wish I had done that way back when.' I am one of those people who carry that wish and now I am proud to say I have found my voice, I have made a difference. Think about it. School I attended THS from 1967-1973. Were there any class reunions for the graduating class of 1973? I wonder. I know I wouldn't have been at the top of the list of people to be notified but get real if there was only one or two I would have loved to receive an invitation, a notification, a post-it note or something. My Mom and Dad (Dad died Christmas Day 2005) still lived in the area and are easily found in the phone book. People, you disappoint me. Oh how my life has changed, oh how I have changed. Oh, how the class of 1973 remains unchanged toward unpopular students. Most of my high school experience was totally unremarkable until I accepted Christ as my Savior at age 16. That moment in time made my life worth living. And I can't really complain about my present life. I have accomplished so much, it is almost unbelievable.
