Doreen's Story

Life I have been married to Sean O'Skea since 1992, he is my best friend and most wonderful guy in the world. He cooks, cleans, remodels houses, teaches theatre and is a set designer. He is one in a million. We just had a baby daughter, Amelia, in June of 2004. School I graduated from Elma High School in 1988, I did a brief stint at CWU and realized that I just could not live in Eastern Washington, it was just too damn bleak for me. I transferred home to attend community college - Centralia Community College (I was paying for school on my own, I had to find something affordable.) I got my associates degree in Humanities and met and married Sean. We then attended the University of Portland together, Sean graduated in 1995 with a degree in theatre, emphasis in design and I followed in 1996, with a degree in theatre management, minor in acting. Arts Administration. We returned to our beloved Pacific NW to work and live in Portland. Sean pursued a terminal degree in theatrical design and put his resume out in the field. That took us to New York for three years. We left as soon as we could to return to the Pacific Northwest! We are living in the lovely and delightful town of Ashland in Southern Oregon. We relocated from Upstate New York in December of '06! I am so thankful to be home! College My undergraduate degree is from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon. (The best place in the world to live and trust me, I have lived in more than a few places.) My graduate degree is from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. (Yes, that's right, David Letterman's alma mater.) Workplace I currently work for Southern Oregon Univesity as the Director of Alumni Relations! After 2 years in corporate America I am beyond THRILLED to be back in academia. It's so good to be with students, faculty and staff again.
