Doug's Story

Life During the last two years of HS and first year of college, I worked at a violin establishment learning how to make/repair violins and cellos. In college, I started out with a music performance major and completed three years before developing a hearing problem that prevented me from distinguishing one note from the other. I could not sit next to a piano and tell if the notes being played were moving up/down the scale. Hence my three years and not a completed four year degree. It was between the frosh/soph years of college that I got a job offer to work at the Portland Flower Market. It was after stopping college in 91' that I worked at the Market fulltime. It was during the summer of 1995 that I moved onto computer software items and started working at ...Expand for more
Intel Corp. I was a Beta test coordinator and contacted people around the world. I was hired by Intel and became a software QA/dev person for a group that worked on Internet commuication and media streaming. During the fall of 1998, I was also performing as a network consultant for companies who wanted to establish computer networks (servers, desktops,email/firewalls, etc). It was through this side job that I met my wife. We got married in Feb of 2001. Currently, I work as a fab technician inside one of the few Intel Corp. fabs making computer chips. I am a step-dad to a daughter and enjoy all the benefits of being a husband and dad. It is amazing how life takes turns when you least expect them. Somehow things always come out in the wash though. Cheers!
