Doug's Story
Life After graduation from East Aurora HS I went to Hobart College, lettered in Football and drinking and other party activities. I was a Sigma Chi, and an Arnold Air Society member of the ROTC group. Upon graudation in 1965 I went to USAF pilot training in Texas. It was great, and I ended up with flying time in T-41s, T-37s, T-38s, B-52D,F,&H's, A-1's, O-2's, OV-10s, and U-6's. Following the capture of the Pueblo I was "diverted" from Vietnam and I spent 13 months in Korea as an Air Liaison Officer to a Korean General on the DMZ. This all was in the "Vietnam conflict days" and I left the Air Force in 1971 to stay alive, and have been a stockbroker and banker ever since. I retired in 2004. I was married for 20+ years to Karen Nordstrom, class of 1963, and we have two wonderful grown daughters, Melissa and Chrissy who graduated from college and live in Florida. I am ...Expand for more
divorced but have a 12 yr old daughter named Joy. We named our Meridian 381 boat after her- JOY TOY. Boating is safer than flying. If you have an engine failure you can throw out an anchor and have a beer. Try that in a airplane. I have had an absolutely great life with many good friends and great times. Many many great memories of everybody.
It is interesting to note that if I were 1 inch taller I would be perfectly round. I think it was from pulling to many G's, or maybe too many hard landings. We left sunny california in August of 2004, bought a motorhome and toured the US and Canada for 4 months, visiting Jerry Grandey in his gorgeous Tree House in Colorado(Telluride) before ending up permanently in Cape Coral Fl. I can be reached at dugsboat Also add yahoo and the dotcom.
In retirement I drive a school bus. Proves I am good with mechanical devices....at least.
