Douglas's Story
Life
Jr/Sr High in Rohnert Park, CA, Graduated from Arapahoe HS in Littleton, CO (a bit before those guys FREAKED out at Cherry Hill HS, and thought shooting everyone was the answer), Graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1990. Stayed in Austin as long as I could at a company called Medic Computer Systems. I now live in Dallas, TX (since 1993) and have worked for PageNet, FlashComm(who?), and have been with Brinker International for the past 11+ yrs. (Brinker owns Chil'is, On The Border, and Maggiano's, and used to own Macaroni Grill, Cozymel's, Corner Bakery, Big Bowl, EatZi's, Grady's and many other casual dining endeavors).
My title has morphed over the decade, but I've basically been a Business Analyst/ Programmer/ Technology Solutions Provider the whole time (and delivering them from a primarily PeopleSoft/Oracle/ERP base).
I love what I do because it's different every day. Enough of work, and how I make a living...
Music has been a constant for me, starting with playing trumpet from 5th grade through college (Go Horns!) and beyond, and continues to be my outlet, (my therapy!,) and meaningful means of expression, and as an avenue for experience and achievement in ways I had never contemplated or dreamed of achieving by singing with the Turtle Creek Chorale for the last 11 years. Through the Chorale I've sung before royalty and dignitaries, with famed poets and Hollywood stars. I've been on prestigious stages, appeared on the big screen in movie theaters, and the little screens in your living room. I've been recorded on at least 10 DVDs, almost 20 CDs, and have earned a place in a book that I usued to wonder at with amazement as a child (the Guiness Book of World Records). And those are just some of the "visible" high points. The really amazing thing that I've been able to do as a member of this choir, and one that seldom "seen" but is rather feltis have an impact on a person's life through music.
