Douglas's Story
Toyed with college, enlisted in the Army, turned down an appointment to the Military Preparatory Academy and West Point. Went to the Warrant Officer Flight Training program. Flew Hueys in Vietnam and Laos from Memorial Day 1970 to Memorial Day 1971.. Received a Silver Star and two Distinguished Flying Crosses, but earned much more. Toyed with college some more. Had a failed marriage. Joined the Army Reserve and the US Capitol Police. Had a much better marriage with a beautiful bride. Left there to fly helicopters for the Baltimore Police Department. Had a beautiful daughter. Was honored by TOP COPS for assisting in the development of information that led to the capture of the Montgomery County Snipers. Saw some more of the world, flying in Egypt, Honduras. Spent two months attached to the 7th Special Forces Group in Ecuador. Retired after 25+ years with Baltimore, and 27+ years with the Army Reserve. Now gainfully unemployed, and enjoying three grandsons on the Eastern Shore
