January 12, 2021 Hello St Pius X classmates - not just from the class of 1968, but people in other years too, Hard to believe it's been nearly 53 years since I graduated from high school at Pius. Here's some of my story. After leaving St Pat's Seminary in Mountain View, Calif. in December of 1969 I transferred to Santa Clara University and eventually to Sacramento State College to graduate in 1972 with a BA in Social Welfare. Social Work was not my destiny and I finished the MA in sociology at Sac St in 1977 and then on to the University of Oregon for the PhD in sociology - completed in 1983. I taught at Oregon as a graduate student, then to UC Berkeley for post doc work and some teaching (1985-1989), to Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan (near Detroit) (I'm Emeritus at Madonna) (1989-2006), then to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, as a lecturer from 2006 to 2020. I've retired now from teaching after 40 years at four different colleges - 1980-2020. I miss the classroom and the students.
