Darlene grew up in Red River, New Mexico, but claims Questa, New Mexico as home. She is of Spanish, Native American, and French ancestry. Her schools include Marana Elementary, Marana, AZ; Questa Elementary, Questa High School. She later attended Tulsa Community College (AS Language Option-Spanish), Grand Canyon University (Christian Theology), She worked at Tulsa Community College.
