Earle's Story
As of 12/14/2010
I started at Northeastern University in the fall of 1961. I left school in my third year after a motorcycle accident and went into the Army. I got married to Marilyn Bilak from Somerville while in the service. I received a hardship discharge to go home and help my folks (my Dad was very sick). Marilyn and I had two wonderful boys (Ken and Wayne). We divorced after 14+ years and remain good friends. I got married a second time to Betty Ward from Michigan who was much younger than me. We divorced after 4+ years and we also remain friends. She has since remarried and has a son.
In 1988, I fell in love with Laurel Dickerson. Shortly after we started dating, she moved from Massachusetts to California due to a prior commitment. After a year, I too moved to California to be with her. We had a wonder 15+ years together. She passed away in March of 2005 from lung cancer. Although not officially married, I consider myself widowed.
My older son, Ken, married a wonderful woman named Janet form Virginia while he was in the service. I have two grandchildren, Justin (18) and Kira (15). My younger son, Wayne, is still single. Both Ken and Wayne live in Maryland about 4 miles from each other. Besides being brothers, they are best friends.
As for work, I have had the following positions since the service: janitor, office clerk, dishwasher, cook, waiter, cashier, asst. restaurant manager, shop floor worker, Final Test Mgr., Production Control Mgr., Material Control Mgr., Purchasing Mgr., Materials Mgr., Marketing Consultant, Training Mgr., Financial Consultant, Sales Support, Sr. Mgt. Consultant, and Knowledge Mgr. From Shop floo...Expand for more
r worker on I was enployed by Analog Devices (14+ yrs.) and Digital Equipment Corp./Compaq (21+ yrs.). I was laid-off December 2001 and officially retired. During 2005-2008, I work part-time during the tax seasons as a Tax Professional with H&R Block. During 2006-2007 I also worked part-timefor a Trust Law Firm as a Legal Assistant.
Since 2004-2008, I have been heavily involved with The Role Model Program which consists of volunteers who go into schools and help motivate "at risk" kids to do well in school and with their lives. I also maintained their web site and contribute in other ways. I also currently do a lot of volunteer work for the American Cancer Society (ACS). I have been on a team, chairperson for Registration, Accounting and Data plus chairperson for Online for this ACS fund raising event where I was living. I was also volunteering to work the polling locations during elections, I was on the Board of Directors at the condo where I was living, and I was work out 2-3 times a week to stay in shape.
After 1 1/2 years from the passing of my wonderful companion, Laurel, I finally started dating. Laurel made me promise two things: 1) That I would be okay and take care of myself; and 2) That I would go out and find someone new, fall in love, and be happy. Just a sample of how sweet she was. I'm now living in Napa, CA with a wonderful woman named Rosemarie. We have two loveable animals: a dog named Archie (part Pitbull and Bordercollie?) and a black cat named Ziggy. I know Laurel is looking down and smilling.
Having just moved to Napa to be with Rosemarie, I am currently not working but plan to look for part-time work shortly.
