Eddie's Story

Life I live in the Dallas, Texas area and work for the Department of Homeland Security as an Transportation Security Inspector. Prior to living in Texas, I was in the Marine Corps for 8 years and earned a BS in Aviation Management. I was stationed in Hawaii, Arizona and California. I have been married to my wife Mary for twelve years and we have two sons. Matthew 7 and Andrew 5 are both excellent athletes and love to drive me crazy. I'm currently working on a Master in Management degree and coach both of my sons in soccer. My hobbies include golf, waterskiing, vacationing and spending time with my family. School Sun Valley Junior was a good learning experience for me. Although I did not attend school as often as I should have I was able to graduate and move on to high school at San Fernando. High school was fun. Playing football, Yell-leading and being on the leadership council at the same time will always be one of the best times of my life. My greatest influences in school were Ms. Bluestone at Sun Valley and Mrs. Shaw at San Fernando. What great women and leaders. I will always look at both of you as influential people in my life. College I attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale through a satellite program in Arizona and California. I was able to learn much of the Aviation industry from my professors but more so from my classmates. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Aviation Management from MCAS Yuma (1999-2000) and US Naval base North Island (2000-2003). I have ...Expand for more
earned a Masters Degree in Management from the University of Phoenix. Workplace I currently work for the Department of Homeland Security as a Transportation Security Inspector. I worked at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport for over two years inspecting the air carriers and airport for regulatory compliance. I have recently moved to Dallas Love Field and I’m now a Cargo Aviation Security Inspector. Military Being part of the greatest military branch in the United States has helped mold me into the man that I am. The Marine Corps was another great learning experience I have had in my life. It taught me work ethic, responsibility and how to lead (manage) others. I will forever be grateful for the lessons learned. Kaneohe Bay (CSSG-3 Supply) was the most beautiful place a Marine could be stationed and I was able to spend three years there. I enjoyed all Hawaii had to offer. When I arrived at MCAS Yuma MAG-13 Supply, I could not believe that I had asked to be transferred there. But, it turned out to be a lot of fun. I had many fun days jet skiing and water skiing on the Colorado River. My final leg of my short Marine Corps carrier landed me at Camp Pendleton, CA. Being part of the 11th Marines HQ Battery Supply, had its moments. SSGT Hanks was awesome. What a dedicated and fun person to work for. I will always remember the goofy times we had. For all of the Marines that I worked with, I say HooRah and thanks for everything. I hope you learned from me what I learned from you.
