I wonder if the plaque containing the names of American History high grades is still displayed somewhere, and if so, is my name still on it, or is that to long ago?
I'm living in Denton, Texas, where I retired from the English Dept. at Univ. of North Texas and in a year or two became Democratic County chair, serving from Nov. 2003 through May 2006 and running (unsuccessfully--want a lesson in gerrymandering? Texas Republicans are experts) for State Board of Education in 2008 (but running a fraction of a decimal point over Obama in those precincts I ran in. M
Maybe you remember me working in the Osceola County Engineer's Office to earn money for college. I went to Iowa State Teachers College, nor the Univ. of Northern Iowa, and then got a scholarship to get an M.L.S. at Columbia. le working first as Education Librarian and then as Asst. Libr. for Public Services. At UNT I taught Classical Literature, Bibliog. & Research, World Lit. in general, and science fiction when I could get it.
I married 25 years ago to Tom Cain, but didn't take his name, and we've traveled a lot, including Greece and Crete, Italy, England on three occasions, and all US states except Hawaii.
Would be glad to hear from any of you. As well as people, and Sibley, I'm especially interested in the details of the 2008 Democratic caucuses in Iowa, and in how wind power became so popular in NW Iowa--two years ago I drove from Cedar Falls west to the border, and scarcely ever went a mile or more without seeing windmills. Then I crossed the SD border and turned south, and (with the exception of a ramshackle museum) didn't see another in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, or the few miles of Texas left before arriving in Denton.
