Edwin's Story

Life Near the end of my senior year I tried to enlist in the US Air Force but they didn't like me :-( When I got back to the recruitment office my recruiter had a Navy recruiter waiting for me. I could already see myself in a submarine, cramped and claustrophobic. I said thanks but no thanks! Fast forward 26 years. It's become obvious now that I've inherited my mom's travel genes. If I had known that in my senior year I would have jumped all over that Navy recruiters offer! But no..... I had to go to work for AT&T instead. Only 17 years later did I realize that I felt trapped by that job. I wish I had known at a younger age. I got married in December of 1985. My first daughter was born in January of 1989 and my son followed in April of 1990. After working at the AT&T plant in North Andover for 13 years I moved my wife and two children to Florida and a new job. We managed 4 more years together before we seperated in 1996. I met an English lass and moved to England in 1998 where I had my third child (June, 2000,) who currently resides in England with her mom.... er, mum. Now I'm back in Lawrence but I doubt I'll be here for long. (05-18-04) Wow. Now it's three years later and my prediction has come true. I'm no longer in Lawrence but living in Amesbury Ma, with my son. I am now back in the Telecomm industry working for Verizon Wireless. The more things change the more they stay the same! School What do I remember about LHS? Wow, everthing, I think. Too much to list here. Teachers, girls, friends, basketball in freshman year... trying out for baseball and spraining my ankle jogging home on the first day, finding out how much hockey skates cost (Mom: WHAT?!?) Needless to say I never played Hockey. Had crushes on way too many girls but remember a certain girl in Senior year most. In my sophomore year I started taking Computer class with the school computer that had a grand total of 8KB RAM of memo...Expand for more
ry. That's right, read it again. No Typo. I wish I had a copy of the year book, as I've lost mine. There ought to be a place where we can acquire them. I remember the freshman football coach (Andrew Reusch?) who was also my Western Civ teacher grabbing the edges of my desk and slamming it against the floor (I want to see you on the football field after school!!) Wish I had listened. Didn't like football then but, oh boy. So, freshman year- basketball. Sophomore year- a crush on my English teacher. (Can't remember her name!) Junior year- a blur. Senior year- Glee club, church choir and Nuris Frias (Ouch!) I somehow managed to graduate. College The problem with this is that I went to Merrimack as a Continuing Ed student so most of these questions don't apply. I was a full time student at Northen Essex but when AT&T came calling I went to work, which then PAYED my tuition for me at Merrimack! How cool is that? And still I didn't finish my degree! Cause I moved to Florida... long story Workplace After LHS I went to work at Burger King while studying at NECCO. Two years later AT&T came calling and off I went. Several years later I decided to take advantage of their tuition reimbursement and went to Merrimack but didn't graduate because I got an opportunity to take a job in Orlando FL. So I went with AT&T to Orlando as a Senior Office Clerk and spent five years there doing that. When I moved to England I only had a tourist visa so the only type of work I could get was Hotel/restaurant. So I worked my way up through a certain restaurant there. (While there I even worked as a telephone psychic! Oh the shame...) I came home and my experience helped me to get a job as an AM with Papa Gino's but I really didn't like that field. Currently I do various office jobs for a Temp agency. Heh, since I wrote that I am now working as a Customer sales/service Rep for a Temp agency. Ah, times are always changing.
