Edwin's Story
Life At Dr. Pila, I remember and took classes with Mrs. Villamarzo, Miss Vechini, Miss Ramos, Mr. Jacobs, Mrs Jason. La consejera era Mrs. Armestica y la principal era Mrs. Goglas.
After graduating from Dr. Pila I went To La Catolica , majored in chemistry and biology, graduated in 1961. Then to medical School at La UPI. Did my Internship at Buffalo Mercy Hospital and them spent 3 years at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI where I specialized in Internal Medicine and Nephrology. In 1969 I went into the US Army and was stationed at Tripler Army Hospital, Honolulu Hawaii. In 1973 returned to PR and worked at San Juan City hospital as Chief of Nephrology Section till 1976. During those years I also consulted at Pavia Hospital, El Industrial, Metropolitano San Jorge and Profesional Hospitals. I was also in the USAF Reserve and in 1976 I came back on a...Expand for more
ctive duty. I was stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Hospital, Dayton, Ohio as Chief Nephrology Services till 1981. Then moved to USAF Keesler Medical Center the second largest medical center of the Air Force. I served as Chief of Nephrology, later became Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Retired as a Colonel in 1993 and have continued in medical practice in Biloxi, MS with South Mississippi Nephrology Group.
Personally I got married in 1964, have two children(boy & girl), and 9 grandchildren. My first wife was from Caguas and she passed away in 2001. I remarried in 2004 to a nice lady from Ciales, PR. My hobbies include collecting memorabilia from Ponce, PR, stamps, working with old cars. I recently restored a 1963 VW Karmann Ghia and of course I follow baseball and basketball seasons in the island thanks to the internet and satellite TV.
