Effie's Story
Well after ACS I left Athens for Boston USA. I majored in Civil Engineering at MIT and later got a masters in Civ.Eng. from Northeastern University (also in Boston) .... I worked for the Corps of Engineers in Boston for 3 yrs and then I moved back to Greece in 1988. Here in Athens, I work for the Water company (EYDAP)....I used to do water supply design ... now I'm Director of Energy...hydropower, biogas heat and power cogeneration, photovoltaics, etc.
I'm also really active in local politics (I guess that student council experience paid off)... I'm a City c...Expand for more
ouncil member and on tens of committees and task forces (Psychico City Council).... I sill live in the same house I did in High School ...
I'm married to a Electrical Computer science Engineer (Yianni Panagiotopoulos) who has his own software company specializing in logistics software....
I have two sons, Nick and Theo, 18 and 16 yrs. old.... they're on track to be future engineers too..... Hard to avoid all that math and physics....Guess Mr. Fotinelli made a real impression!
My younger sister Angel (class of 81), also moved back to Greece ....She's a lawyer!
