Elaine's Story
I love Jesus with all my mind, heart, soul, being. I am very interested in missions -- was on short-term [ten days to twelve weeks] missions teams to Spanish Harlem 1969, children's ministry; Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti 1976, children's ministry; Brazil 1979, children's ministry; Mexico 1985, nurse and children's ministry. I also went for one year [2006-2007] to Rwanda as basic computer literacy teacher at secondary level and conversational English teacher to pastors. Also did computer work in hosp pharmacy. I am very much interested in returning to Rwanda but am willing to go wherever God sends me.
I sing in church choir and work with the children [3-year-olds]. I also sing with the community chorale. I volunteer in the community with Angel Food Ministries, annual health fair, biennial high school health fair, AMVETS [as chaplain], Relay For Life, Right To Life and crisis pregnancy ctr, tourism cmte, hosp auxiliary, and at sr ctr. Most of my volunteer time, however, is spent teaching basic computer literacy to seniors.
I am retired out of US Army. My parents, a pastor and a school...Expand for more
teacher, are both deceased -- as is my husband. I have two sisters and one brother, all younger, all married. I have two step-daughters and seven step-grandkids -- four boys, three girls. As of 8 October 2008 I now also have one great-granddaughter.
I have my nsg license in Illinois, a Bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor College [now University] in Michigan in sociology and in psychology [double major]. I have Master's degree from Univ Of Phoenix in management. Working on PhD from Walden Univ in public policy and admin with concentration in int'l NGOs [Non-Governmental Organizations].
In my times of relaxation, I enjoy reading, writing, computer, watching old movies, going to St Louis Cardinals games, traveling, fishing, listening to classical or gospel music, doing plastic canvas, playing table games, doing jigsaw puzzles, sudoku.
Anything else specific you want to know . . . ask. And, although I currently live in south central Illinois, I am a "snowbird" and "fly" south to Florida in the winter. If gas prices continue to go up, it may actually become cheaper to fly there instead of drive!
