Eliza's Story
College
Went to ACC for about 2 years, on and off. Hated that, but didn't have money right away to go to University.
In 97 I got a bunch of financial aid and had saved up, so I made it to the University of Miami, Florida. I graduated from the 5 year bachelors of Arch. program in 2003 and was working in a firm since 2000.
While at UM, I rowed on the crew team. Was in a boat of 8 on the girls team, and sometimes was the coxswain for the boys team. (who'd have thought my bossiness would come in handy).
I was also in Best Buddies, Intl. It is a club that pairs coll...Expand for more
ege students with the mentally challenged people in the community. We did many activities with them and talked to them on the phone or email often, making them feel more accepted in the community.
The UM campus is great. I lived in the dorms. Stayed in the same one for 4 years, had the same roomie for the last 3. It was co-ed and I had my own bathroom, so no horror stories there. Being an architecture student, I got asked to share my drawings of my bunk bed/loft, that myself and another architecture and engineering student came up with. Probably the safest there. :)
