Elizabeth's Story
Life
I am currently living in Norwich with my husband of 38 years. We have 2 beautiful children...a son, Timothy, age 32 he graduated from Norwich Free Academy in June of 2008 and a daughter, Victoria, age 25, she graduated from NFA in 2014. We also have three beautiful grandchidren aged 14, 10 and 4.
I am currently a stay at home mom and the kids keep me hopping with their activities.
Military
I went to Orlando, Florida for bootcamp from Sept. 1st to Oct 31, 1981.
Then to San Diego, California for Mess Management Specialist "A" School.. ( I trained to be a cook) from Oct. 31-Dec 18, 1981. I then came home for Christmas break and reported for duty.
My duty station was Sugar Grove Naval Base in Sugar Grove, West Virginia, and I reported on Jan. ...Expand for more
2, 1982 and was there my full tour of duty, until my discharge in March of 1984.
While stationed there, I did various jobs in my rate, cooked, baked breakfast items, showed movies, rented out tools and sports equipment, stripped and buffed the floors and general cleaning.
I also met my husband while I was stationed there and got married in October of 1982. We moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia when I got out of the Navy and stayed there until September of 1985 when we moved back to Norwich Connecticut.
To blow off steam I either read a book or play on pogo website.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were surprised when I joined the Navy and became a cook instead.
