Elizabeth's Story

Life I worked for nearly 29 years as a design engineer, about 12 of those as a contractor, which took me to jobs in nearly every state. I met lots of wonderful people (some not so wonderful as well) and was able to see a great deal of this country that I otherwise would not have seen. Have beat most of the medical 'odds' given to me in 1998 after being involved in a serious auto accident. It's like being given a new lease on life, in fact, it's definitely been a new start in life after nearly nine years of debilitating pain and near death on more than one occasion and the inability to work or do much of anything for myself. I am enjoying each and every moment even though it has been a very big adjustment for me - miracles do happen and I am walking proof of that! I have returned to college the fall to 2007 begin a new career. I am studying respiratory therapy and gerontology at Weber State University and must say it has been quite a challenge after all these years; however, am doing very well and am registered for next semester - in fact, since the majority of my past credits transferred, I am over 2/3rd's of the way to a degree. I have three adult children living in the Portland OR area and have seven grandchildren, the youngest is nearly 16 months old and is very precious to me - have to say that he, Preston, is my favorite grandchild. rently living in Ogden UT (still not sure why I ended up here); however, it was a blessing in disguise because for the first time since the accident I came in contact with doctor(s) who knew of the disease and how to treat it - so guess I have to say, it was 'Divine Providence' that brought me here. Am adding to my profile today, August 15, 2009 as life brings changes each and every day. Dad died early Sunday morning August 9, 2009 - I was blessed to be alone at his side when he took his last breath. Though we miss those who go before us, we know that we have no control as it is all in God's hands. He went very peacefully and I would not have wanted him to suffer any longer. Mother will likely go very shortly as well, we all believe she was just waiting for Dad to go for she knew he would not know she was gone. He is at peace now and life must go on. He would have been 91 on Sept 14 and they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept 20th. Had hoped they would make it but it was not to be. Just a short update today, January 5, 2011. I moved back to Twin Falls ID in April of last year (2010) a couple of weeks before mother died the latter part of April. Both are now gone - like all things in life the end comes for us sooner or later. Wishing everyone a happy New Year and pray you all receive many blessings in the New Year. God bless,
