Elizabeth's Story
Hey!
I would really like to catch up on several old friends. My life is going very good...I'm happily married and have adopted a 4 year old little girl in December 2007 and a 3 1/2 year old boy in June 2008.
I am still in touch with many very close friends of the class of 1979. It was a good year! I am finding many of them at Facebook under Liz Montney Butcher.
I am 47 and my husband is 50. We have been married for 15 years and were never able to have children even though we tried until a few years ago.
We decided to become foster parents about a year and a half ago. It has been a long, tough road. We have had 7 children in and out of our house, because a lot go to relatives or back to their homes. Our first 2 little girls age 1 & 2 were sent to live with their great aunt in another state after we had them for about 5 months. That was Dec 20, 2006...it was a crushing blow and the worst day of our lives since we were told we would probably be able to adopt them. It was also right before Christmas.
Then we had 5 other children until Macie came into our lives last February. She had just turned 2 and the previous foster parent had broken her leg so she had a cast on. She had also been through 7 homes. She really looked like such an urchin. She couldn't talk and had the haunted look you see with so many of these children. Within a mon...Expand for more
th she was talking, potty trained and so happy. She really blossomed with love and attention and that's all these kids need. It doesn't matter your age...just whether you can love them.
She is the love of my life besides my husband and I waited my whole life for her. I call her my "angel baby" and tell her "you are my gift from God" because she is. She tells me "I never lose you, because I home...the judge says so." Brings a lump to my throat every time she tells me that and I tell her "yes you are home and I'll love you forever and ever."
Now let me give you the real happy ending...We adopted her on December 20th, 2007. The day that was the worst of our life because we had lost the previous children, had now become the best, because of the adoption on the same day. Funny how God works in mysterious ways...isn't it?
I never mind telling the story. It's a really GREAT story! Macie is the best Christmas present that we will ever receive and is the light of our life!
I decided to tell our wonderful story on this page in the hopes that it will spur others to do the same and become foster parents too. There are so many delightful children that need to have a permanent family, they are just out there waiting... so give it some thought...a child is waiting for you too.
***UPDATE***we adopted Nicholas on June 30th, 2008. Very happy!
