Elsie's Story
Life
I was a teacher on Long Island after college. The first district was Island Trees, and the last Garden City. Continuing education resulted in a doctorate in 1996 from Teachers College, Columbia University. Then three years as an administrator in Nassau BOCES, a year at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY in teacher education, followed by 14 years as an academic at Arizona State University. I retired 3 years ago to study the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, a federally funded nurse education program that alleviated the nursing shortage during World War II.
I never married and sometimes wonder if that is a good thing, but have no regrets about the decisions I've made in this area either. I do enjoy the winters in AZ, but summertime is another story.

It was a good career on Long Island, but I am happy that I made a couple of moves later in my career. The year in Westchester County in teacher education was a springboard for where I am now. I moved to Arizona in 2001 and retired from Arizona State University in 2015. Am enjoying life...
