Life
1964-68: Capital University, Bachelor of Music performance, 1968.
1968-1971: United States Navy: enlisted bandsman. Vietnam 1970-71.
1971-74: United States Navy: commissioned, 1971; ship's officer on board USS RANGER. Vietnam 1972-73.
1974-1981: San Diego, California: professional musician and free-lance magazine writer;
1981-1984: San Diego State University: Masters Degree in Filmmaking in 1984.
1984-1989: San Diego: worked for the U.S. Navy as a video script writer. Motion Picture Project
Officer in a Navy Reserve Combat Camera Unit.
1990-2004: San Diego: worked for the U.S. Navy as a civilian Teleproductions Specialist at Naval Air Station North Island, writing, producing and directing training videos for Navy pilots. Retired from the Navy Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander in 1994. Continued to work as professional musician. Founded and conducted the San Diego Cine-Phonic Orchestra, a small professional orchestra that accompanied classic silent films during live performances. Entertainment, Water Bearer Films and Kino-on-Video. Formed by my own company Cine-Phonic Music Service in 1999 to compile, arrange and rent out silent films scores for performances by symphony orchestras in the United States.
2004-present: Thanks to a happy set of circumstances, I was able to take an early retirement from my Government job and am now working full time in my home studio, producing soundtracks for commercial video releases and doing custom audio projects for a select group of "anchor" clients. Am happily married to a girl I met in college in 1966.
Hobbies: selling collectibles on eBay, stereo (3D) photography, monitoring shortwave, railroad, and police scanner broadcasts, collecting recordings of old time radio shows, collecting phonograph records of all vintages and speeds, collecting recordings and music scores for musical theater productions from the early 1900s, collecting classic films on DVD.
My wife and I live Descanso, a small mountain community east of San Diego which borders on Cuyamaca State Park.
