Yes...indeed, my school years might read like a "band on the run"...but, I wouldn't change a thing. I had the chance to experience sports and band (now there's a combo) at Valley High School. Spent a semester at Bishop Gorman where I slipped into the rockin' tour of Harmony Express. Made some amazing friends in a really short time and saw the entire west coast on the bus trip of all bus trips...we won the Reno Jazz Festival that year for Show Pop II category...and to think, I didn't have to sit in Mr. V's Theology class for a whole month. Then, in California, I got to experience the drum corp style of marching bands. Had no idea h...Expand for more
ow big drum corps were, but music in California was all about the corps...travelled all over the state with the band, played a solo in front of 20,000 people at a competition (which we won), and then was introduced into the life of Theater that year. Did two plays at Roosevelt and got a scholorship to Fresno State University for Music. I continued to multi task at Fresno State...sports...fraternity...drama...and in short, this track led me to the life I have chosen today...making movies...writing books...and capturing my hearts desires. NOW...had I listened to the "pressure" of my social in crowd and sports peers to "give up band...because it was for geeks", or given into the equal pressures to "not be a jock" by the always wear black, anti social crowd of theater and band life" I would've never found my dreams. Truth is...it has enabled me to have a wide variety of friends, despite their hobbies or beliefs. Lesson learned...follow your heart...despite what is "cool"...or, what you think "might" be cool.
