Eric's Story

I was born in Midland, Michigan and lived there until 1966. My family then lived in Waukesha/ Saylesville until 1968. We then moved to Watertown/ Lebanon. I graduated from Watertown High School in 1971. I worked the summer on the lawn crew at Watertown Country Club, the summer after graduation. I joined the Army doing basic at Fort Ord, Ca. Then on to AIT at Fort Knox Ky. I eventually ended up in a town in northern Bavaria, Bad Kissingen, Germany as an Armored Recon. Specialist patrolling the West/ East German border. I left the Army & moved to Edgerton, WI. where I ran a restaurant in a campground. I got an A.A degree from Gogebic Comm. College up in Ironwood Michigan. Then I spent the summer attending UW-Madison. I graduated from U.W. - Oshkosh with majors in History & Social Science with minors in Literature & Language Arts. I went to the University of Kent, in Canterbury, and received a masters degree in Ancient History. I worked my way through school as a Dive Master, in Whitstable, Kent. I went to Professional Divers Academy in Scotland, which specialized in training commercial divers for offshore jobs in the North Sea. I went to school, while they were bui...Expand for more
lding a new facility. The surface supplied diving skills and underwater construction skills were applicable to my new job. Then went to work for Marine Photo (specializing in underwater photography) as a producer/director, in Nottingham. Got married, got divorced. 1 step-daughter. Came back to the US. I went to Seminole State College of Florida in Sanford (Orlando) Florida. Worked as an bee-keeper through school. I graduated with a degree as a Paralegal. I came to Arkansas, went to work for a firm specialing in workman's comp. in the barge and gas industries, doing intake work. I met another woman. Got married and have 3 children. She got cancer from which she did not survive. My health problems, stemming from days in the U.K. necessitated amputating my left foot. Retired and moved to Milwaukee in 2013 to do my rehab. I spent a day in Watertown, about 5 years ago. It is much as I remembered it. When I went to WHS, I set a number of goals of what I wanted in life. Have an adventure, get married and have kids, go to college, travel widely, own a business, etc. The bucket list has been accomplished. For all it's ups and downs, life is good and it certainly is interesting.
