Eric's Story
Life
Happily married since 1990 and loving life. We've got two great kids - our daughter Sorcha (born 1993) and son Connor (1999) are both thriving in school and doing great things in their endeavors. I'm currently (2008) an Active Duty Army Lieutenant Colonel and love my career thus far - it's now been going for 22 years and taken us all over the world. People think of the military and they may think stifling or robotic. That's a Hollywood charactization and it's total BS. We have to constantly adapt. We have to constantly change. We have to constantly learn. If you stand still then you don't last long - either professionally or personally or even as a family unit. That constant adaptation helps keep us fresh and helps keep life exciting. Hooooh- Ahhhhh!!!

assions. I try to run 5 miles at least 4 days per week - nothing more revolting than an out of shape military officer - they should be expunged from the face of the earth on general principle.
I have little desire to return and live in Ohio where I grew up so we'll just have to see where life takes us next...(looking at "settling" one day in NC). For now, our next assignment will be Bulgaria after being here in Germany the last 3 years. That said, the last thing I want to do is work a 9-to-5 job where I can't wait until I retire.... or sitting around looking for things to do. I'd prefer to seize the day - Carpe Diem! I NEVER want to retire... I want to wake up and look forward to the day and be actively engaged in life every day... a journey not a destination. And I suppose that this outlook doesn't fit the normal paradigm.... too damn bad.
