Eric's Story
Workplace
I've worked as a surveyor at Turris Coal, north of Springfield. Then I went back to SIU and finished my Mining Engineering degree. After graduation I headed out west to BFE Nevada and worked for a gold mine. I left Nevada and moved to Alabama to work for another coal mine north of Tuscaloosa. s an engineer designing mining equipment for A.L. Lee in Mt. Vernon. I then decided to return to the production side of mining and accepted a job as the Mine Engineer for Black Beauty's Riola Mine Complex. After bouncing around the country the past couple of years, I plan to stay put for awhile. The mine has between 5-8 years of reserves left at which time I'll probably transfer somewhere within the company.
