Hi, Ya'll!
So where do I start? I graduated from RRHS in 1979 and then went straight to College at Soutwest Texas State (now Texas State) University. I majored in Marine Biology and minored in Chemistry...dumb idea as math is my weakest subject! Upon graduation in 1984, I stayed out a year and stocked groceries at the Round Rock H.E.B. So then, during this time, I was looking into Military service. I joined the Navy in 1985 and wound up in Norfolk, Virginia. Nice change from Great Lakes Colder n' Hell Illinois! So I spent 3 years on the Aircraft Carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Did alot of traveling around the Carribean and Mediterranean Oceans. I was a Catapult Electrician which was a pretty easy job until the Catapults or Arresting Gear broke down. Then we were given alot of 'unwanted' attention to get it fixed. I rotated out of the Navy in 1989 and was hired on to work at the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. I was a trackside electrician. This job required that we maintain, repair, and install equipment used...Expand for more
to provide power to the Subway Rail System. I worked here for about 1 1/2 years and then left to pursue a Nursing Degree. I started the Nursing Program at Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland. Bad grades and less-than-ideal situations necessitated that I quit the program. I restarted a program at the University of Texas Graduate School. Situations dictated (once again) that I withdraw and so I moved to Las Vegas to [once and for all] finish up a program. Las Vegas is where I finally completed and received my two-year R.N license. I've been working as a Registered Nurse since 2000 and currently I'm at a Maximum Security Prison in Ely, Nevada. I don't worry too much about the inmates stabbing me in the back. Primarily, it's the co-workers (Nurses in particular) I have to watch--I've been "snake-bit" quite a few times!! So now I plan on working there another two years to gain vestiture and then leaving that corner of Nowhere Nevada. Perhaps I'll move back to Central Texas as there is so much more to do here, more opportunities, and Family :-).
