Erica's Story

Life After I graduated from WB, I went to Lehigh University and majored in journalism and biology hoping to write for the NY Times science section or something. After working as a reporter and tech writer for a short time, I went to grad school to get my master's degree in biology at Wake Forest University and promptly lost my NY accent (my students said it got on their nerves...and it was dangerous to be identified as a Damn Yankee and worse yet, a New Yorker, in the hi...Expand for more
lls of North Carolina and Tennessee). There, I became an expert on salamanders of the southern Appalachians and decided to further enter obscurity by getting a Ph.D. at the University of Virginia in Population Biology and Evolution. I reluctantly gave up my ACC affiliation and hit the Big 10 when I took a research job at the University of Michigan for a few years. I finally got a "real" job as a biology professor at Vassar College in 2005. I am very happy to be back in NY.
