Erich's Story

Life I recently joined this site to re-connect with friends from the schools I've attended. As an adult, I have moved too often to keep up with many friends. Now that I've made a self determination to slow things down, I'd like to catch up with those I've missed over the last years. If you didn't know me very well, feel welcome to brouse my postings anyway. Any friend or acquantence is welcome! I attended K-7 at Middlebury IN. My father was also principal, first at MHS and then Northridge HS. My father went to BHS in 1973 so we moved to Brownsburg IN. I kept in touch with some Middlebury friends, who went on to Northridge HS. I attended 8-12 in Brownsburg, graduating from BHS in 1978. I had friends in class years from 1977 to 1980 with a few in 1981. I went on to college at Purdue and finished a bachelor degree in Construction Management by 1983. In 1980, my family moved away from Brownsburg to Warsaw IN. I really lost track of friends from that point forward. By 1984, I found my first post college job which took me to Raleigh NC. I met my wife in Raleigh in 1988. I thought she was so cute, down to earth and just my type. She had graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh and was completing her degree at NC State. We seemed to have a lot to talk about. But I thought she was commited to my friend. If you knew or know me, this is not the first time I've made the wrong assumption when it involves women I've met! think I broke many hearts except for a few girls who probably wondered if I would EVER just go ahead and ask them out. Does anyone know the scene in The Jerk where Steve Martin talks total nonsense when he attempts to ask out Bernadette Peters! In my case, Charlene took charge of the situation and decided to enlighten me. By late 1989, we were married. By then, much had happened. We both changed jobs and moved to Indianapolis and then on to Ft Wayne IN. I also lost my father to a battle with illness. In 1993, we had our first son, Jeremy. By late 1996, we made the decision to relocate to Dallas-Ft Worth area. In 2000, we learned Jeremy would be our only son. We eventually made our home in a small town called Trophy Club (golf community) where Jeremy began school, played sports and was active in cub scouts. We made friends and enjoyed our home lives. By 2003, we were tiring of the Dallas rat race (2-3 hours/day sitting in traffic!) and had a good opportunity to move with my company to Raleigh-Durham NC. We both agreed this was our favorite place to be. It's late fall now and there is nothing like the beautiful colors of the North Carolina piedmont. If anyone ever wants to visit, you'll find us here now or 20 years from now. My mom and brother remain in Indianapolis so we fly back to visit when we can. If anyone plans another 1978 reunion, kindly let me know early. I've missed them all until now. That's about all for now.
