Ernie's Story

Ok- so Im sitting here at 10:16pm on a Friday night when I should be either playing Halo with my clan or working in the studio, or maybe even getting some sleep for once, but no! Im sitting here looking at all these names that I remember from when I was not only in my teens and 20s but names from when I was like 5! I have to think- where the heck has the time gone? I can remember when I used to see some of you people in Kindergarden! WT_? Its like some sort of time warp or something. Anyway- I see that some of you have actually been doing some great things along the way. Whatever youve been into- I hope youve thrown your whole heart into it and succeeded in it! No regrets, right? Thats the thing I think of mostly when I get on this site. I wonder what could have been? Really the only way to answer that is to confirm in my mind that I did what I thought was right at the time- and I stuck to my faith along the way. Sure we all have times when thats questionable but in the end- I think I did mostly the right thing. (Yes I know some of you are ROFL right now- especially the ones who have been on the business end of one of my XBOX Live hacks in Halo 2! or the ones who used to know me as ALPINE I- to you I say- we all choose the dark side at least once in our life.) Ive digressed... So some of you that are reading this, dont know whats been going on with me for a while. In a nutshell, I did the public school thing, then did the private (Christian) school thing (THANK YOU Mom and Dad for caring enough to care what happened to me!) and once I got out of there I did the college thing, then as I was getting outa there- was intercepted by Walmart. Stayed there for a while, moved around some, and learned alot- I hate the place now and wont even shop there but like I said, I did learn alot and met Angela (my first wife) there too! Next it was off to Office Depot where I decided that retail just wasnt my gig so I took up computers. About this time my first daughter came into my life and I was changed forever! From there I found that not only had I taken up computers I had found my calling. Its a great thing to wake up in the morning and look forward to going to work! If you consider work to be actually work- maybe you should look at what you do when your off and see if you can make money at it???? So the story continues with my staying in computers. I went on a knowledge quest and came out with MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCSE+I, CCNA, CISSP, CSEPS, C|EH, SSCP, CAP, and some others. Think back to the previous paragraph- Its not work to me- its just a fun time and really I look at it like playtime! What could be better? I get paid to play??? Is that not the biggest social enginering hack in the world? Anyway- At this point I had been running a small Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Hampton Roads for several years. Angela and I decided to call it quits and I had been offered the job of a lifetime (So I thought) with Nortel Networks- the catch, I had to move to Northern Virginia to accept it. Hello! It was a HUGE raise- I was in Herndon in NO TIME! :) So now Im with Nortel. I find out the day before Christmas break that I had to be in Germany on Jan 2nd- oh, and pack for three months...WT_? How does one actually pack for 3 freaking months??? In a sentance- take everything you can carry in your suitcase and buy everything new when you get there. It works! You can get Armani and all the other names at what you can get Cheapo for in the states. So I staye...Expand for more
d over there for a while longer than the three months. Ok- so there I was, living in Hamburg and in Herndon. Germany wasnt bad as I had a two story penthouse apartment at the Hamburg Park Hyatt that was just extraordinary (Courtesy of the client)! On top of that I was a Senior Engineer designing and engineerng Europe's largest datacenter so the work was just awesome but there was one thing missing- my new girlfriend who was sitting back in the states babysitting my two cats. I missed her although she was great to come and visit every couple of weeks and we ran all over Europe together like kids- even taking in Paris on Valentines Day and stuff like that. As they say- all good things come to an end and eventually the datacenter went live and I came back to the states. I kissed the ground at Dulles- seriously! :) Although I loved my time in Europe- its just not the same. To their credit- the Germans, Brits, South Africans, Japanese, Chinese, Canadians, Turks, Italians, and Dutch that I worked with and PARTIED with and will take secrets to the grave with are great people! Ill always remember you and still miss each and everyone of you; however, America is me, its where Im from, its where I live, and more than likely its where Ill retire to and ultimately be buried in- so I was glad to be back. So there I was- back in the states, back with my California blonde, and kinda out of a job. Sure there are things out there but where do you go after you've just come back off such a high? You cant just go work in some datacenter as an admin right? One would go nuts! BORING! Well- as it turns out I went to work for a company in McLean and was contracted to FDIC. Without going into details, I've never seen better, more dedicated, and professional people anywhere! I worked at FDIC and ultimately that contract was awarded to someone else. I stayed with ATS and went to US Department of Labor. You know what- Im leaving the rest of this to some other time.... So Anna and I get married in May of 2003 and I was the happiest man in the world. Not only was she my perfect blonde with blue, shes was so sweet I just couldn't believe it. Soulmates- Im serious. So we went on for a while and at some point we are blessed with Samantha- our first! She was born April 2005 and is just awesome. It wont let me put a weblink in here but email me and Ill shoot you a link to her pix. So there you have it. Its 11:05 and Ive been typing for how long now? Haha. I think its time to get on Xbox Live and shoot some people. Anyone who has read this whole thing- I'll buy the first round next time we see each other. Take care, God bless you, and if your going to be in the Washington area- def let me know when and Ill see what we can get into.... A PROFESSIONAL PLUG FOR ME! Im a professional computer hacker. I founded COUNTERSYS CORPORATION, and now work as Chief Information Security Architect and Chief Operating Officer along with an UBER-TALENTED group of guys and gals who really know what theyre doing! My clients include federal clients such as FDIC, US Department of Labor, OSHA, Architect of the Capitol, Dept. of Homeland Security, Intelligence Agengies, and thats NEARLY it! ;) Private firms include Southbank, Nortel Networks, Network Solutions, Countersys, Microsoft, Bungie, Cisco, US Soap, and well, the list goes on a ways but you get the idea. Ive been around and around and around and around. IF IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU COULD USE MY COMPANYS TALENTS, HIT ME UP!! :)
