Esther Acosta:  

Life I graduated from Mapleton in 1970 and later I taught Spanish, English, and ELL at York Jr and at Skyview for 25 years. I retired in May of 2007 and plan to build on my storytelling career. I am a professional storytelling and I have performed my stories in New York, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and all over in Colorado. I plan to write a book or books that tell the stories eventually. I also am doing lots of photography hoping to have a collection for documentation of events that take place in the Chicano, and Native American Communities. I have been married to Jay Alire for 22 years. He is retired now and was an administrator for CCD and the South West Early College. We are in the process of adopting a beautiful little girl. She has been with us since her birth and is now over 1 year old. Talk about life changes! I have 3 stepchildren and 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I have been blessed with a great husband, a good career and a beautiful home. We travel quite a bit and are involved with community organizations and are busy all the time.
