Eve's Story
Life
After graduating from Ball State in '75, I taught 5 years and got my M.S. in education before moving to southern CA. During my 10 years there, I taught 5th and 6th grades, got married, had my son, Karl, got divorced, and moved back to IN. We've been living in Lafayette for the past 16 years, where I teach for the county schools. Karl is in Purdue, but also in the Army. He is doing his boot camp this summer. I have remarried to a wonderful man, Bill Reiss. Next year will be my last in teaching. That will make 32 and I think that's enough. I'm going to retire. We have bought a winter place in Brunswick, GA so next winter is my last in IN. I always was a wuss about winter! Bill has one granddaughter, so I am Grandma Eve by "proxy". I garden extensively, a love I got from my mom, and have beautiful flower gardens. d from time to time go to the casino. My life has had its share of unexpected surprises, but then whose hasn't? I have accomplished many of the things I have desired, yet my list is not completed. I want to work with sea turtles and plan to volunteer to this end at a rescue and education center that is in Brunswick, GA, hence why we chose the location for our winter home. I have true friends, some of which actually understand and get me! Not always an easy thing! I am blessed that I still have my mother and we are very close. I want to take a hot air balloon ride, see the Canadian Rockies, and walk on the Great Wall of China...and I will. I have been awarded honors for teaching, and for acting, once upon a time, but none are as important as family and friends. I hope any and all who read this have found their niche in life, and that you can relax, sit back and say, "It's not so bad. In fact, sometimes, it's pretty darn grand!"
