Everett's Story
I live in the Boston area, teach Judaica at Clark University, and have translated a chunk of the Bible, of all things. I also keep up my interests in Toscanini, "Golden Age" singers, and 18th-19th century piano, chamber, and orchestral music. In January I had the great fun of reading at the annual Moby Dick Marathon in New Bedford. Not exactly like George H. W. Bush sky diving at 85, but then again, I'm not 85.
Update, Sept..2015: From Jan.-Aug. 2014 I was on sabbatical. My wife and I traveled to Seattle, L. A. Honolulu, Houston, Ndew York, Tel Aviv/Jerusalem, Johannesburg, Capetown, Durban, Istanbul, Israel ag...Expand for more
ain, back to the States, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Bali, Brisbane, Auckland, Wellington, Christ Church and back. This past spring we were in Milwaukee, Berkeley, Romania/Ukraine, Cordoba and Barcelona, and Reykjavik. Lucky to be able to do it, thanks to sabbatical funds: I lectured in most of these places (not Iceland). In Nov. 2014 my book, The Early Prophets (translation of Joshua through Kings) was published by Schocken Books.
Lots of family and friend deaths (mostly older folks) preceding all this, and a few since then, but overall I'm feeling very fortunate, and remembering the inspiring years at M & A.
