Florence's Story
Life
I now live in Sarasota, Florida. I am single. I have 3 children living (I lost 2 girls and 1 son) and 3 grandchildren. I would love to hear from old classmates! My sisters Margie, Regina and Karen are also here if any of their friends are out there! Margie is trying to get in touch with Jimmy Insignia. Does any one know where he is? I am trying to locate my girlfriend from grammer school---Kathleen Groshen. She lived in Carlstadt, and sometime before 1959, moved to New York. I last saw her about 1961).
I posted a picture of "class of '59"....St. Joe's...in albums,(if anybody wants a copy...email me and I'll send you one) also an album with some pictures of my family.
My first born...Tina passed away at age 31...(1994)...she had pancreatic cancer.
I also lost a daughter in 1977....Christa....she only lived for 11 days.
My son Beau (38-never been married)is a "Rocker"...presently on a 35 state tour. His band's name is "SuddenDeath"...Heavy Metal...and he has several released CD's. Latest one is Unpure Burial. His music is played on radio stations (if you listen to those type of music stations)...and his videos are on VH1. What a difference from "our music"!!!! I can't even understand most of the words!!! I remember how much my dad hated ELVIS...so I just respect his choice of music.
But I have to admit that I enjoy being on the tour bus with the band...local shows only. After this tour, they will be back in the studio recording a new CD, and then go on tour in Europe.
My daughter Rebecca(33-never been married) is a chef at the Longboat Key club here in Sarasota....she has never cooked for me....I still do all the cooking for all the dinners we have together. Her opinion is that the kitchen isn't big enough for both of us....she's such a BRAT!!! Update....She quit her job and moved to Las Vegas....bought a home there...she's still single!!!!
My other daughter Desiree(40-divorced) lives in Indiana and has given me three Grandchildren...Rachel, Andrew, and Summer Raine!! She produces a line of children's clothes under the label "Summer Smiles" Update..she is getting married on June 2nd!!!! I will be there!!!! My oldest son Eddie(44) still lives in Jersey and owns "Centerfold" on RT.46. (It was called the Flamingo years ago, when his father first bought it in '63). He just recently got married for the first time. Eddie passed away Aug. 11, 2012. He was hit by a car...on life support for over 2 weeks.
I've been living in Sarasota for ten years and I don't plan on ever leaving....I love it here! Prior to moving here, I've lived in Indiana, Arizona,(I used to see Richie Fill and his family there)and Tennessee...where I was a re-entry student at East Tennessee State University. I was 37 when I went back to school!!! I worked my way through school, working in the computer science lab...and farmed (with a hand held plow and a team of mules) to feed the kids!! What an experience!!!!
I am presently in the restaurant business (on a golf course) and working on marketing a product that I own a Patent on. I need help...anyone in marketing?? Update....I retired from the restaurant and I now own an "Alternative to a Nursing Home". I have a big, beautiful, five bedroom home in Sarasota. My clients live in my home with me...they are usually bed bound...Hospice...dementia...Alzheimers, in the last stages of their life. I have cna's, Doctors. therapist etc. working in my home on a daily basis. I only take two clients at a time....although I actually have three. My mother lives with me...she has Alzheimer's. What I do is very difficult...especially when one passes away....it's so easy to get attached to them....but it is also very rewarding. I give them a quality of life they would never have in a nursing home. I call my home "On Angel's Pond" I will post some photos as soon as I get a chance to.
I also collect art...Dali is one of my favorites...I own several of his, but my prize possession is a portrait of my son Beau that Peter Max did for me. It is priceless!!
I'm going to add a picture of it to my family album.
