Floyd's Story
I have many fond memories of St Dominicâs and Weyburn in general. I and my three brothers & eight sisters lived in Weyburn for several years before moving to Ralph and then Halbrite, Sk. It was not a move I wanted but when you are only in grade six you donât have a choice.
I was married in 1972 to Marie-Anne Jezequel and we lived in Surrey. Our only daughter Allison works as a lawyer in Vancouver for a law firm called Victory Square Law Office. However, not all was good as sadly we lost Marie-Anne to cancer on June 5th, 2011.
Late summer-early fall I went on a trip in Saskatchewan to visit and get re-acquainted with family and friends. I was away for 2 months and found it quite therapeutic.
While in Weyburn staying with family, I reminisced about the time at St. Dominicâs with my cousin Margaret Tuchscherer. She knew Dianne (Keating) Eddy and Diane (Wilson) Cross who helped me find two other grade one classmates, Mary Ellen (McLarty) Murray and Sandy (Shultz) Fandrich. minic reunion off the ground for early June, 2012 you can get the whole story. It will be interesting and a lot of fun.
I am looking for old pics and info from that time for the reunion. If you went to St. Dominicâs around that time or anytime and are just interested, you can contact me at 604-597-1404 or by email Floyd-at-sign-telus.net.
An interesting after thought about my sister who also went to St Dominicâs and now lives in the US. I told about the possible reunion and she said she is reluctant to go to such things because of leading an uneventful life and doesnât want to be compared with those who have had an exciting life. I said we all feel the same no matter what dreams we may have or havenât realized but at our age (62 for those who canât remember their birthday) it has little or no significance and not a sufficient reason to avoid having fun. Save the time at the beginning of June, 2012 and plan to be in Weyburn for some fun. It will probably be the June 2 weekend but will be determined soon. It is flexible at this point to accommodate as many as possible.
