Forrest Scott's Story
Life
I have not checked recently as much as I used to because I am completing my MBA through Norwich University, with my my final class ending in August 2009. My e-mail address changed several months ago. No telling how many e-mails I have missed. Hearing from some of you would be wonderful. As for the bio, I left the area in 1974 to join the Army, and ended up in Washington, D.C., Army's ceremonial unit, The Old Guard. I stayed in the Reserve after discharge, and attended OCS, graduating in 1984. I left troop units in 1989. I graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1979. I have worked for newspapers in Willoughby, Ohio; Cleveland; and Wichita, Kansas; and Tampa, Fla.. The roles have ranged from sports writer, to business reporter to chief political editor to editor and publisher. I now work for The Boeing Company in St. Louis, Missouri. 36 years away from North Clayton, my mind turns to yesteryear, and wondering what happened to some of you. I recall fondly the glaring eyes of our band director, John B. Rea, and the stern look of Lt. Col. Marquis, and the wonderful teaching of Robyn Lewis and Connie Ruch.
Workplace
I am living in Wentzville, Mo., about 40 miles west of St. Louis. Moved to St. Louis from Wichita. Prior to that, I spent five years Tampa, Fla., where I was publisher of The Business Journal Serving Greater Tampa Bay. My career has taken me to Washington, D.C.; Cleveland; Atlanta; Wichita and Tampa. I have worked for daily newspapers and weekly business journals. Before Tampa, I was publisher of the Wichita Business Journal. I served on several boards in Tampa, including the Tampa Chamber of Commerce, the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce' Junior Achievement of West Central Florida, Tampa Bay Reads and the CEO Council of Tampa, and the campaign cabinet of the United Way of West Central Florida.
