Fr. Martin's Story
Life
After graduating from Archbishop Kennedy HS I entered the Brothers of Charity. This is a religious community working in the Philly area. As a Brother for 9 years I taught at St. John of the Cross in Roslyn and St. Timothy in the northeast. In 1977 I transferred my religious vows to the Capuchin Francisan Order and began studies for the priesthood. I was ordained a priest in 1983. After ordination I was appointed the Director of our High School Seminary in NJ. From there I was moved to a parish in Passaic, NJ. After two years I was appointed Pastor of a church in Woodstock, VA. I returned to a parish in NJ as pastor for two years and then again to Purcellville, VA as pastor. In 1997 I was transferred to St. Thomas Aquin...Expand for more
as Church in Charlotte, NC. Working here, I was also the sacramental minister at University of North Carolina - Charlotte (UNCC). Also I was on the RCIA Commission for the Diocese of Charlotte and parochial vicar at three different parishes, two of them Afro-American. In July of 2006 I was transferred to Most Holy Redeemer Church in Tampa, Florida, a "stones throw" from Busch Gardens.
As of April 2, 2009 I am the pastor of Our Lady of Consolation Church, an African-American inner city parish in Charlotte, NC. After 3 beautiful years at Our Lady of Consolation I moved to Immaculate Conception Church in Hendersonville, NC where once again I was appointed pastor and guardian of our religious community of Capuchin Franciscans there.
