Frances Irene's Story
I was known as Irene Gomez throughout the years. I graduated from Cooper Upper Grade Center on June 23, 1965. I was officially adopted by my stepdad and my name changed to Irene Avila. I went to Frobel for a year and then started going to Harrison High School. I didn't graduate from there since I thought I knew it all. I was transfered to St. Barbara's Catholic School. parents sent me to San Antonio and I went to Edgewood High (GO RED RAIDERS!!)on my sophmore year. My parents picked me up and I went back to Chicago. I dropped out of school and started working. I met my husband in 1968. He was my cousin's friend. His name was Victor De La Mora. I was married at an early age. Our first child was born in 1970. I went back to school and recieved my GED in June 1971.
