Frances's Story
I attended Point Park College in Pittsburgh from Sept. of 1964 until April of 1965. I worked for my Dad and his brothers's construction company in Beaver Falls, PA. (Massa Brothers Construction Company.) Then, our family moved to VA in 1966 and I started to work for the Federal Govt. in 1967. I worked for several agencies, then I retired in 2004 after 37 years of service. I went to school at night for 3 years and graduated with honors with my paralegal degree in 2000. I worked for attorneys for several years, including the Department of Justice and the Food and Drug Division of the General Counsel's Office. I started to work for the Dept. of Energy in 1991 and then that office was moving to Albuquerque, NM (Fall of 2004)and I didn't want to move there - and I was eligible to retire so I did. I applied for several jobs in the Fed. Govt. - but no luck. I bought a townhouse in Germantown, MD in 2003 and that's where I still live. I've lived in MD since 1970. Germantown is about 20 miles from Washington, DC. So, that's my story. If you'd like to get in touch with me, you can send me a note. Oh, by the way, I just went to Gilles Sweet Elementary School in Cleveland, Ohio for Kindergarten. One of my favorite things to do these days is to bake bread. I don't like store-bought bread, so I make my own. It's very satisfying for me ...Expand for more
to bake and it gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I also share it with a friend of mine and her son. It's the summer of 2010 and I'm walking for exercise to keep in shape for our next reunion in 2014. So, that's always my incentive - to look better for our reunion. I planted a few flowers a few weeks ago - but I think a bunny or deer ate them for a little "snack." Two of the other flowers that I planted weren't touched, so I guess they didn't like them. I go to my next Massa Reunion, back at Brady's Run Park, the last weekend of August 2010. So, that's my update for now. I hope that everyone is having a good summer so far. It's been very hot here in Germantown, MD. It's now Dec. 2010 and it's cold here. I'm getting ready for Christmas. I made 2 kinds of cookies and will be seeing my sister and her family on Christmas. I might be be making Italian Christmas Bread tooo. Well, I guess that's about all for now. We just had our 50th High School Reunion on June 14, 2014. I had a really wonderful time and it was good to see sooo many of my former classmates. I did talk to several of them and I also danced a lot tooo, past Midnight. The evening came to a close tooo soon. We are all looking forward to our 55th Reunion in 5 years. My summer has been going very well. Until my next update, I hope that everyone is doing well.
