Fran's Story
After graduation I eventually got a job at National Bank of Detroit and that is where I met my husband Ted Kondek. We've been married 43 years and we have 3 sons and 7 grandchildren.
We're are enjoying our senior years, gardening and having fun with the grandkids. I was most fortunate in getting a librarian postion at the school system here in Edmore where we've lived for 30 some years. I was the elementary librarian for 15 years and retired from that position 6 years ago. I still do subbing as I guess I'm not ready to call it quits yet.
I didnt go on to college and that is why I count myself lucky to have gotten the job running the library. My interests include story telling, and I'm not talking about reading a story but telling a story from memory, running a small historical museum in town, and genealogy (more history). My family history has taken us to Germany where my ancestors came from and I actually found relatives of my greatgrandfather and they invited us to visit the homeland and stay with them. It was a wonderful trip and now I'm trying to find my mother's side ...Expand for more
of the family in Ireland. Maybe I'll get lucky and get to visit them if they're still around. My retirement is suiting me just fine. I also dabbled for a few years in community theatre and was in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat and Oliver. Ted and I love theatre and attend local college plays and community and once in awhile we get to Stratford for some of their theatre. Family is important and lots of time is spent with our children and our extended families.
We have always had animals. Dogs, cats, pigs, chickens and cows have had a part in our lives and two years ago a Cockatiel landed in our tree and Ted caught it so we have a noisy bird named Fred. Life has had its ups and downs but we have survived and stayed together and enjoyed all the challenges it has presented us with. (Well, most of them :>) We are still in good health other than the usual things that bother people our age. It's been great fun looking at other's
stories to see where they've been and what's happening with them.
Wishing all who read this well and be sure to say HI.
