Franklin's Story

Life My Kids,I have two kids, girl& boy; I now have 7 grand kids. Two entering college in 2003, 5 below 7 years of age. I intend to retire in 2004,and do a lot of traveling within the USA, also plan to buy a 22 foot Boat and travel the intra- coastal waterway from Savannah, Ga to Miami, FL.Also plan to purchase condo's,Apt's or homes in FL,NY,& CA to spend a few Months each year in each area with my kids and Grand's.As of july 2, 2005 I have retired from the U.S. Gov. with 33 years service to GSA/PBS. will now work on doing the traveing etc. School Savannah State University (SSU) has been a part of my life since I was a small boy,I was born in Savannah. I owe a lot to two (2) young students who helped me and a friend back in 1949-52, it was Georgia State College (GSC)then. We were in a row boat in the Thunderbolt River and the boat sprang a leak and began to sink, we had to swim back to shore. Two GSC students saw what was happening to us and stopped to help us.They gave us a ride to GSC and gave us some dry clothes to put on. I don't remember their names, but I often think of their kindness to me and my friend. Whenever I donate money to SSU I add extra for the kindness these two young men showed to me and my friend,(my friend has since died) . I hope one day to find out who they were, to thank them again. We often played in the Gym at GSC on weekends for as long as I can remember, I made friends with Frank Gordon,James&Sam Early who lived near the College,Frank i...Expand for more
s the son of Prof. Gordon of GSC, Frank and I later attended classes together.
