School
Savannah State University (SSU) has been a part of my life since I was a small boy,I was born in Savannah. I owe a lot to two (2) young students who helped me and a friend back in 1949-52, it was Georgia State College (GSC)then. We were in a row boat in the Thunderbolt River and the boat sprang a leak and began to sink, we had to swim back to shore. Two GSC students saw what was happening to us and stopped to help us.They gave us a ride to GSC and gave us some dry clothes to put on. I don't remember their names, but I often think of their kindness to me and my friend. Whenever I donate money to SSU I add extra for the kindness these two young men showed to me and my friend,(my friend has since died) . I hope one day to find out who they were, to thank them again. We often played in the Gym at GSC on weekends for as long as I can remember, I made friends with Frank Gordon,James&Sam Early who lived near the College,Frank i...Expand for more
s the son of Prof. Gordon of GSC, Frank and I later attended classes together. If you remember hearing of the above incident,or know who the two young men were that helped us please let me know by e-mail or phone, 404-331-0075,I would be very thankful. Thanks.
